Lodge Niederrhein was 50 Years old in December 2014, what better time to celebrate this great occasion, than at the Installation Meeting the following June?
A committee had been formed to plan the weekend, but as always one person took the lead, and that one person was WBro. Jim Lutton. The Location was fixed from previous years, The Holiday Inn in Ratingen, it was decided to have a White Table after the Meeting, so that the Brethren visiting from abroad could bring along the Ladies without them being left out in the evening. Jim also planned a Trip along the Rhein and Coffee & Cakes up in the Television Tower in Düsseldorf.
What had not been planned was the incredibly wonderful weather! Those who were there on the Friday afternoon assembled at the Pool and enjoyed the cool dip with a cool drink! This was interrupted for the evening meal, which was in the form of a buffet, followed by moving back to the pool for drinks ‘till late!
Saturday Morning saw the ladies being picked up by a Luxury Bus and taken into Düsseldor, where they had the Boat trip and “Breath Taking Views” from the tower. Some said “it was wonderful, but you won’t get me up there again!!”
At the same time the “Boys” set up the Lodge and we had our Installation Meeting. The Installation conducted by Andy was simply great! I think that the Highlight was the Presentation in all three degrees of the Working Tools by Brethren, whose first language in every case was not English. Maybe we should also mention, that Emanuele, who presented the First Degree Tools, had been initiated only 4 Weeks before the meeting!! Congratulations to each and every one of you!
After the Meeting, the Ladies returned from their day out and were invited into the “Temple” to see where the men had been all afternoon. It was enjoyable to have so many questions and answers about the Lodge in particular and Masonry in General.
It was now Five O’clock and the Reception for the Gala / White Table was to be at 7 O’clock in the same room! The Hotel Staff is to be commended for the swift and efficient work they carried out all weekend, making our “Party” run so very smoothly!
102 people sat down for the Gala Evening, the food was wonderful, the company first class with Live Music from “Just Piano” rounding off the event.
At the end of the Day over €1000 had been collected for Charity.
All we can say is Thank You to Jim for organising the whole weekend, thank you to the Brethren of Niederrhein for working so hard at making the Ceremony run so smoothly and Thank you to all of our Visitors who attended, making our 50th Anniversary Party a Weekend to remember!
